The Project Entrance to Expertise
This project of the University of Duisburg-Essen addresses international students who meet general academic entry requirements by the completion of secondary education, but who are not entitled to study at a German university without a qualifying entrance examination. Up to now, foreign applicants have normally been required to pass German A-Levels or to complete a two-year Foundation program before beginning their undergraduate studies. A recent amendment to academic entry conditions, however, eases admission requirements. In this pilot project, foreign applicants can gain direct admission to the University of Duisburg-Essen after successfully completing a so-called TestAS and the university’s specific entrance exam, which however can be taken in the applicant’s home country. Particularly well-qualified applicants can apply immediately after graduating in the second school.
